DIY Sensory Bins

Easy Sensory Bins to Make for Your Kids

By Allison Tursi, Holbrook Macaroni KID Publisher Mom January 6, 2022

As a teacher, mom, and crafter I love coming up with all kinds of activities for my kids to do. I love sensory activities and believe all kids need sensory input in their everyday lives. I made 4 sensory bins for my kids at home that they are always asking to play with. They were easy and inexpensive to make and you can make them for your kids too!

Sensory Bins can be for all ages and geared toward your child's interests. Pasta bins are great for little kids as the pieces are larger and not harmful if it goes in their mouth. My son loves digging for bugs and dinosaur bones and my daughter loves making food out of the sand. All 3 of my kids love filling cups in each sensory bin and dumping them out, we have so many cups from restaurants and birthday parties that I was able to put in each bin. Many items can be found in the dollar store and the options are endless. I purchased 4 wide, shallow bins with lids from the store so easily store and stack our sensory bins.
